News: Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller USA Enamel Dial

Before founding the brand that bears his name, Laurent Ferrier spent four decades at Patek Philippe, honing his skills and eye for exceptional design. He previewed the first model of his own company at Baselworld 2010, and has since made a name for his brand as a watchmaker of unbelievable quality. As a small, independent manufacture, Laurent Ferrier creates less than 150 watches a year, so it’s no wonder the new Galet Traveller USA Enamel Dial has us interested.

The watch is limited to only 10 pieces, and has been designed exclusively for the US market. As such, the dial is decorated with an intricate depiction of the globe with North America in full view, all the way down to northern Latin America—a rare and unusual perspective for a watch face. The outline of the continents is created in cloisonné champlevé enamel, while the delicate indexes that punctuate the map are complemented by the elegant ‘assegai-shaped’ hands.

The piece features the in-house automatic calibre LF230.01—beating at 21,600vph, and with a power reserve of 80 hours, it is chronometer certified by the Besançon Observatory. An understated dual timezone display can be seen at 9 o’clock, while a small date window sits equally as discreetly at 3 o’clock.
